  • I would like to welcome the visitors of the website of the League of Arab States. Since its establishment in 1945, the League of Arab States has been the long-standing organisation that is home to all Arab countries and peoples. The League’s mission is to make every sincere effort for the progress and prosperity of our Arab nation: the nation which has significantly contributed to humanity, in light of its historical, civilisational and cultural specificity, diversity and richness, entitling it to be among the leading nations, providing its societies with the highest levels of stability, prosperity and development so that all its citizens can enjoy their full rights and fulfil their duties towards the Arab society. I have the pleasure to call upon all those interested in learning more about the path and activities of our Joint Arab Action to contribute to the League of Arab States’ enablement for a better future for Arab nations and peoples.

  • League's Secretary-General welcomes holding comprehensive conference in Riyadh to resolve southern Yemen issue

    ​Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, welcomed the call by His Excellency President Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, to convene a comprehensive conference in Riyadh to examine fair solutions to the southern issue. He expressed his appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s prompt response to this request by the legitimate Yemeni authorities, and for its announcement of readiness to host and sponsor the conference, with the participation of southern components.

    ​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, expressed deep concern over the serious and rapidly unfolding developments in the Republic of Yemen, following the failure of the Southern Transitional Council to respond to the demands of the Presidential Leadership Council. He voiced hope for the immediate cessation of escalation in the governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahra in eastern Yemen.
