The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States asserts that the only viable path to achieving lasting stability and peace in the Middle East lies in resolving the Palestinian cause in accordance with the internationally endorsed two-state solution. This entails the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The General Secretariat stresses that circumventing these well-established principles, which enjoy broad Arab and international consensus, will only serve to prolong the conflict, render peace increasingly elusive, and exacerbate the suffering of the region's peoples, particularly the Palestinians.
