General Secretariat hosts Ibn Battuta Award ceremony for influential figures in tourism and travel

​The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States – Economic Affairs Sector hosted the Ibn Battuta Award 2025 ceremony, where the Arab Tourism Organisation honoured a distinguished group of influential figures in the field of tourism and travel.  

General Secretariat convenes meeting of Arab Health Committee for Emergency Preparedness and Response

​Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Social Affairs Sector, stated that the Arab Health Committee for Emergency Preparedness and Response convened its meeting on 20 February via audiovisual communication technology. The meeting was held in accordance with Resolution 2 issued by the Council of Arab Health Ministers during its 61st ordinary session in the Republic of Iraq on 12 December 2024, 

Head of Media and Communication Sector highlights importance of comprehensive vision for media and sustainable development at Saudi Media Forum

​The fourth edition of the Saudi Media Forum was inaugurated on 19 February in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The forum, running from 19 to 21 February brings together Ministers of Information from Arab countries alongside 2,000 participants, including representatives from Arab and international media institutions, press organisations, and digital platforms.  

Standing Committee for Administrative and Financial Affairs holds 107th session

​His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Saleh Al-Ajeri, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Sector, announced that the 107th session of the Standing Committee for Administrative and Financial Affairs convened on 19 February at the headquarters of the General Secretariat.

Aboul Gheit receives Croatian Prime Minister

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received on 18 February Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, who is currently visiting the Arab Republic of Egypt.  



Working group convenes to follow up on Supreme Authority for General Oversight recommendations

General Secretariat convenes Arab Doctor Award Committee meeting for 2025

​Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Social Affairs Sector, announced that the General Secretariat (Social Affairs Sector – Health and Humanitarian Aid Department – Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Health Ministers) is set to convene the Arab Doctor Award Committee meeting for 2025 on 17 and 18 February at the General Secretariat headquarters. The meeting will bring together representatives from Arab countries serving as members of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, including the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Republic of Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Palestine, the Arab Republic of Egypt (Chair of the Executive Office), and the United Arab Emirates, alongside the Arab Council for Health Specialties.  

General Secretariat holds 44th session of Arab Women Committee and the Arab Preparatory Meeting for 69th session of UN Commission on the Status of Women

​The General Secretariat (Social Affairs Sector – Women’s Department) convened on 17 February the Arab preparatory meeting for the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), in collaboration with the Regional Office of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. This meeting was held on the sidelines of the 44th ministerial-level session of the Arab Women’s Committee, chaired by the State of Palestine and conducted via digital platform. The session witnessed the participation of Their Excellencies the Ministers, senior officials, and heads of national mechanisms responsible for women’s affairs across Arab states, alongside representatives of relevant regional and international organisations.
