Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met on 23 February with His Excellency Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, at the headquarters of the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Amman.
Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General, stated that the discussions focused on the overall regional situation, with particular emphasis on developments concerning the Palestinian cause, especially in the context of preparations for the upcoming Extraordinary Arab Summit, scheduled to convene in Cairo on 4 March.
The talks also addressed the preparations for the forthcoming session of the League Council at the ministerial level, which Jordan will preside over.
Ambassador Zaki further noted that the meeting reflected a convergence of views on the key elements of the unified Arab political stance regarding recent proposals that aim to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
