The Secretary-General of
the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, arrived on 9 December
in Port Sudan for a two-day working visit to the Republic of Sudan.
Upon his arrival, he was received by His Excellency Mr. Ali Youssef
Al-Sharif, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan, alongside a delegation
of senior Sudanese government officials.
Gamal Roshdy, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said
the visit underscores the League’s solidarity with Sudan during these
critical times. It also reflects the League's commitment to supporting
Sudan's security, stability, and the unity of its territories.
During the visit, the Secretary-General is scheduled to meet with
Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese
Sovereignty Council, as well as other prominent members of the
Sovereignty Council and several ministers. The agenda also includes an
extensive discussion session with Mr. Al-Sharif to examine the current
developments in Sudan and explore avenues for cooperation to address the
ongoing challenges.
