  • League's Secretary-General receives Sudan's new Foreign Minister

    Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, welcomed His Excellency Mr. Ali Youssef Al-Sharif, the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan, at the General Secretariat headquarters on 6 November.
    Gamal Roshdy, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, noted that Mr. Aboul Gheit extended his congratulations to Mr. Youssef on his new role, wishing him success in his sensitive and significant mission, particularly in light of Sudan's current challenges. Mr. Aboul Gheit underscored the League’s steadfast commitment to Sudan, emphasising its principles of safeguarding Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, upholding non-interference in its internal affairs, and protecting its national institutions. He also commended the Sudanese government’s efforts to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate citizens' hardships.
    The Sudanese minister expressed deep appreciation for the Secretary-General's support and the League’s unwavering stance in assisting Sudan and its institutions towards achieving peace and stability.
    The spokesperson further noted that Mr. Aboul Gheit agreed to accept the minister’s invitation to visit Sudan at the earliest opportunity.
