Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab
States, participated on 17 October in the 15th Arab-Turkish Economic
Forum, held in Istanbul.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that
during his address, Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed the importance of further
strengthening Arab-Turkish relations across all sectors, with a
particular focus on economic cooperation. He highlighted that Turkey is
among the Arab world’s most significant trading partners, with trade
volume between the two sides reaching approximately $46 billion in 2022.
Mr. Aboul Gheit underscored that this ongoing partnership opens avenues
for new opportunities in emerging fields such as green energy and
financial technology, while emphasising the strategic importance of the
region, serving as an essential economic bridge connecting Asia, Europe,
and Africa.
He further stressed the urgency of prioritising the conclusion of
free trade agreements, which would facilitate greater trade flows and
bolster mutual investment between the Arab countries and Turkey.
