Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab
States, vehemently condemned the Israeli air raid on the town of
Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, which claimed the lives of dozens,
including the mayor and several relief workers, while leaving many
others wounded.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, relayed
Mr. Aboul Gheit’s assertion that these Israeli raids are indiscriminate,
targeting civilians and vital infrastructure, as part of a calculated
attempt to replicate the brutal Gaza scenario in Lebanon.
The Secretary-General emphasised that Israeli arrogance has reached
unprecedented levels, dismissing even the rational European voices that
have criticized such indiscriminate and inhumane military operations.
He referenced the recent remarks by the French President, who described
the Israeli strikes as random, and the hostile reaction these comments
elicited from the Prime Minister of the occupying power, which he
described as both scandalous and outside the bounds of diplomatic norms.
Roshdy further explained that Israel is relentlessly pursuing its
strategy of depopulating northern Gaza, escalating its massacres against
civilians with a ferocity far surpassing the early days of the war.
This sends a clear message that the conflict will continue unabated,
with forced displacement and civilian targeting— even in makeshift
camps—remaining key components of the campaign.
Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed that the situation in the Gaza Strip has
far surpassed all expectations in terms of criminality. He warned that
if the international community allows this scenario to be mirrored in
Lebanon, it will be complicit in the crime through its silence and
failure to halt this relentless, bloody assault on Lebanese civilians.
