  • Israel risks losing Egypt's role: Aboul Gheit
    التاريخ: 2024/09/04

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, stressed Egypt's unwavering commitment to defending Palestinian rights. He dismissed the accusations levelled by the Prime Minister of the occupying state as mere distractions aimed at prolonging the conflict for personal and political gains.

Gamal Roshdy, the spokesman for the Secretary-General, quoted Mr. Aboul Gheit as stating that Israeli justifications have been exposed, highlighting Netanyahu's reluctance to pursue a ceasefire agreement despite public awareness of his intentions.

Mr. Aboul Gheit further stated, "Egypt's firm stance against the presence of Israeli forces in the Philadelphi Corridor is supported by the Arab nations. It is rooted in the rejection of the re-occupation of Gaza and holds both legal and political significance. With its recent actions, particularly Netanyahu's deceitful claims, Israel risks losing Egypt's pivotal role in the region."

Mr. Aboul Gheit reiterated the call for international pressure on Israel to swiftly agree to a ceasefire, emphasising the urgent need to save lives and prevent a perilous escalation in the region.
