Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, vehemently condemned the massacre Israeli occupation forces committed at dawn on 10 August in a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in the Al-Daraj neighbourhood, Gaza City. The attack resulted in the deaths of over 100 Palestinians and left hundreds injured.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said Mr. Aboul Gheit described the massacre as "a cowardly act that is an affront to the Israeli occupation army." He emphasised that killing displaced civilians during dawn prayers is a crime that surpasses even the already deplorable standards of the Israeli army, demonstrating an extreme lack of conscience.
Mr. Aboul Gheit stated that the ongoing extermination campaign against Palestinians in Gaza effectively grants Israel impunity to continue its killings. He called on the international community to exert genuine pressure on Israel to engage in serious negotiations, through intermediaries, for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza in exchange for a prisoner swap deal.
