Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received Mr. Shen Haixiong, President of China Media Group at the headquarters of the General Secretariat on 30 July. The meeting covered a range of topics of common interest, including the promising prospects for Arab-Chinese cooperation in the field of media.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that Mr. Aboul Gheit lauded the ongoing and constructive cooperation with China during the meeting. He highlighted the success achieved by the Arab-China Cooperation Forum over the past 20 years, particularly noting the last session held in May in Beijing, which featured high-level participation from the Chinese President and leaders of four Arab countries, as well as numerous Arab foreign ministers.
The spokesman added that, in light of efforts to intensify humanitarian and cultural exchanges between the Arab and Chinese sides in preparation for the second Arab-Chinese Summit scheduled for 2026 in Beijing, and to contribute to building an Arab-Chinese community for a common future, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding under the Arab-Chinese Digital Archive Initiative. This initiative aims to use media to foster closer ties.
The spokesman added that the group's president received a certificate of honour from the League of Arab States in recognition of its significant contributions to the field of media at the international level.
