Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit strongly condemned the declaration issued by the Knesset on 18 July, which rejects the establishment of a Palestinian state. He emphasised that this declaration and its false justifications reveal the true intentions of the Israeli occupation towards the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, particularly their right to an independent state on land occupied since 4 June 1967.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesman for the Secretary-General, explained that Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed that this announcement, coinciding with the extremist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's storming of the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, is part of Israel's efforts to completely overturn all signed agreements and international law. It aims to legitimise the apartheid occupation against the Palestinian people, normalise the desecration of their sanctities, and undermine the two-state solution, rejecting the peace sought by the international community.
