Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, convened with Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in Doha on 30 April on the sidelines of their participation in the third session of the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, hosted by Qatar.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that the meeting primarily focused on preparations for Bahrain's hosting of the Arab Summit on 16 May. They discussed the latest developments in communication with Arab countries to align positions and finalise the preparation of agenda items for the summit.
During the meeting, there was a comprehensive discussion on the anticipated outcomes of the summit and strategies to harmonise Arab positions regarding the region's crises. They also explored potential initiatives to bolster collective Arab action on key issues.
Mr. Aboul Gheit expressed sincere gratitude for the efforts led by Bahraini diplomacy, spearheaded by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Their endeavours aim to ensure that the upcoming summit makes a tangible impact on joint Arab action.
