Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab
States, took the opportunity of his visit to Qatar to participate in
significant meetings to tour Sidra Hospital in Doha, which has received a
considerable number of Gazan children who have fallen victim to the
brutal Israeli aggression. Mr. Aboul Gheit was accompanied by Her
Excellency Mrs. Lulua bint Rashid Al Khater, Minister of State for
International Cooperation.
According to Mr. Gamal Roshdy, the spokesperson for the
Secretary-General, Mr. Aboul Gheit visited the patients at the hospital,
recognising its crucial role in delivering top-tier healthcare
services. He engaged with the medical team, gaining insight into the
comprehensive care provided, which extends beyond medical treatment to
encompass psychological support, education, and ensuring optimal
conditions for the patients' families.
Minister Lulua Al Khater provided the Secretary-General with an
overview of the humanitarian relief efforts extended by the State of
Qatar to assist victims of the genocide against the Palestinian people.
She outlined Qatar's collaboration with relief agencies in treating
1,500 severely injured Palestinian children. These efforts include
treatment at Qatari hospitals and accommodation in residential centres
equipped to cater to children requiring ongoing medical attention
post-surgery. Additionally, Qatar is engaged in humanitarian endeavours
in the Gaza Strip, in partnership with Egypt.
Al Khater expressed concern over the rising number of amputations
among children, attributing it to the Israeli authorities' obstruction
of medicine imports and deliberate delays in evacuation procedures
through Egyptian territory.
During the visit, Mr. Aboul Gheit conveyed his profound sorrow upon
witnessing the plight of child victims. He extended heartfelt gratitude
to the Qatari government for its humanitarian initiatives aimed at
alleviating the dire consequences of the war on Gaza.
