Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab
States, has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack perpetrated
by the Somali Al-Shabaab movement against innocent civilians at a hotel
in Mogadishu on 15 March. This cowardly act resulted in the loss of many
lives and injuries to numerous Somalis.
The Secretary-General extended heartfelt condolences to the
families of the victims, emphasising that such heinous acts during the
sacred month are devoid of humanity. He invoked the mercy of God upon
the deceased and urged their families to find strength and solace in
this difficult time.
Counsellor Gamal Roshdy, the spokesperson for the
Secretary-General, affirmed the League's unwavering support for
Somalia's comprehensive efforts in combating terrorism. The League
stands ready to provide assistance to Somalia in rebuilding its armed
forces and state institutions, as well as addressing the underlying
causes of terrorism.
