The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, met on 5 March with Mr. Nikoa Pachanyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, at the General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesman for the Secretary-General, said that during the meeting, Mr. Aboul Gheit and the Armenian Prime Minister explored opportunities to enhance cooperation across various sectors. Mr. Aboul Gheit underscored the robust historical ties between Armenia and the Arab world, highlighting Armenia's significant role as a major partner in the Caucasus region. He expressed appreciation for Armenia's supportive stance on the Palestinian cause, expressing confidence in Armenia's continued traditional role in promoting peace, security, and stability in the Arab region.
The spokesman clarified that the Armenian Prime Minister briefed on the recent developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis with Azerbaijan, outlining initiatives proposed by Armenia for achieving peace and the expected principles of the impending peace agreement between the two parties.
Moreover, Mr. Pachanyan stressed his eagerness to enhance Armenia's relations with Arab countries and broaden political cooperation within the framework of the League of Arab States.
