Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab
States, received Mr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs
of the Syrian Arab Republic, at the headquarters of the General
Secretariat of the League of Arab States on 5 March. The meeting
addressed the latest regional developments, a day before the League
Council convened at the ministerial level in its 161st ordinary session.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesman for the Secretary-General, said that
the discussions focused on Israel's aggressive war against civilians in
the Gaza Strip. The meeting underscored the global inability to halt
this daily massacre, revealing double standards in decision-making
capitals that continue to provide cover for Israel's policies despite
the exposed brutality and violation of fundamental standards of humanity
and morality.
Roshdy further conveyed that the Secretary-General emphasised the
complete consensus among Arab countries on preserving Syria's
sovereignty, the integrity of its national territory, and the withdrawal
of illegal foreign forces from its lands during the meeting.
