Gamal Roshdy, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the
League of Arab States, vehemently denounced the decision made by the
occupation authorities to seize Palestinian lands in Silwan, located in
occupied East Jerusalem. The confiscation is intended for the
construction of a cable car traversing these lands. Roshdy asserted that
such actions constitute a blatant violation of international law and
binding UN Security Council resolutions, expressly forbidding unilateral
measures in the occupied territories.
Roshdy stressed that the confiscation of land, coupled with the
expropriation and displacement of East Jerusalem residents, reflects a
deliberate and systematic strategy employed by Israel to Judaise
Jerusalem. He underscored the urgency for the international community to
focus on Israel's perilous policies in the Holy Areas, particularly in
light of the far-right government's fascist ideology currently in power.
Roshdy urged global attention to these matters, especially considering
Israel's exploitation of global concerns surrounding its actions in
Gaza.
