Members of the Ministerial Committee appointed by the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, headed by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, convened at the United Nations headquarters in New York City on 29 November.
The committee held discussions with His Excellency the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres. The meeting included the participation of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Al-Safadi, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, and His Excellency the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki.
Also present were His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, along with His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Malaysia, Dr. Zambari Abdul Qadir, and the UAE Minister of State, Khalifa bin Shaheen Al-Murr, the representative of the Arab group in the Security Council.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip and its vicinity. They noted the positive impact of the humanitarian truce, specifically in the release of some prisoners who were reunited with their families. Efforts for an immediate ceasefire were also a key focus, with an emphasis on the international community fulfilling its responsibility to protect civilians and uphold the principles of international and humanitarian laws.
The meeting highlighted the importance of implementing United Nations resolutions to protect the Palestinian people from violations by the Israeli occupation forces. The participants emphasised the need to return to the path of peace by implementing international resolutions related to the two-state solution. This includes enabling the Palestinian people to realise their legitimate rights in establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the borders of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Ministerial Committee members reiterated their call for the international community to take effective measures to secure relief corridors for the prompt delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. They emphatically rejected all forms of blatant settlement and forced displacement of the Palestinian people.
