The Ministerial Committee formed by the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, led by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held an official meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in the French capital, Paris, on 22 November.
Attending the meeting were members of the Ministerial Committee, including His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Safadi; His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry; His Excellency the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki; His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan; and Her Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi.
Also present were His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Yusuf Maitama Togar, and His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit. The meeting was held in the presence of Her Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, Catherine Colonna.
The meeting lauded the collaborative mediation efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, and the United States of America, culminating in an agreement for a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip. The timing of the truce will be announced within 24 hours, lasting initially for four days with the possibility of extension. Emphasis was placed on the imperative of building upon the humanitarian truce towards achieving a comprehensive and enduring ceasefire at the earliest opportunity.
Members of the Ministerial Committee underscored the urgency for the UN Security Council and the international community to take effective and immediate actions to secure a complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. They highlighted the vital need for establishing secure corridors to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, including food, water, fuel, and electricity to Gaza.
The Committee members called upon the French Republic to assume a balanced role in accordance with international and humanitarian law, working towards an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and the implementation of all relevant international resolutions.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the imperative of reviving the peace process. Committee members stressed the importance of ensuring a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace by implementing international resolutions related to the two-state solution. They emphasised the necessity of enabling the Palestinian people to realise their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the lines of 4 June 1967, with its capital in East Jerusalem.
