Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, issued a resounding condemnation of Israel's devastating air strike on the Jabalia camp today, resulting in the tragic loss and injury of over 250 individuals.
Aboul Gheit emphasised that this heinous act is an additional atrocity on top of the ongoing offences committed by the occupying forces in Gaza. He stressed that the conscience of the world cannot afford to remain silent in the face of such atrocities.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said Mr. Aboul Gheit highlighting that with each passing day of this ongoing massacre, the entire international system, rooted in the principles of international law and humanitarian standards, is put to the test. He questioned how a regime could claim moral and civilisational superiority while permitting daily atrocities conducted by the Israeli occupation forces with the apparent consent of world powers unwilling to endorse a ceasefire.
Mr. Aboul Gheit reiterated the urgent call for an immediate cessation of military operations in Gaza. He underscored that the international community bears responsibility for the lives endangered every day in the Gaza Strip, either through bombings or as a result of the ongoing blockade, which risks causing death by starvation and siege. He stressed that the prompt delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip remains a global and international obligation.
