The Council of the League of Arab States held its 160th session on 6 September at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. The session was presided over by His Excellency Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, succeeding His Excellency Mr. Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, who chaired the previous session of the Council.
The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of the Member States and Mr. Philippe Lazzarini, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The agenda for this session encompassed various topics related to joint Arab action, spanning political, security, economic, legal, and social issues.
Prior to the session's commencement, there was an opening of a photo exhibition organised by the Beit Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency. The exhibition showcased historical milestones in the Jerusalem Committee's journey, as well as the outcomes of projects undertaken by the Beit Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency over 25 years.
These projects, which were supported by both photographs and data, highlighted the significant achievements, including over 200 projects, consisting of both large and numerous small and medium-sized projects, with a total funding of approximately US $64 million. Another section of the exhibition featured publications by the Agency on the Holy City, its religious and cultural significance, and the historical connections of Moroccans with Jerusalem. Additionally, there was a section displaying products from partner Jerusalemite associations and institutions, which showcased Palestinian arts and culture through traditional items such as fashion, handmade textiles, ornaments, wooden products, ceramics, gifts, decorations, collectibles, household items, and creations by traditional artisans.
