Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, sent on 5 July a congratulatory message to Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, and Mr. Ahmed Ataf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community in Algeria, on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of Algeria's independence and Youth Day, observed annually on 5 July.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesperson of the Secretary-General, relayed that Mr. Aboul Gheit reiterated the significance of this commemoration to every Algerian and Arab citizen, owing to the profound significance it holds in terms of honour, dignity, and the sacrifice that was made to achieve independence and construct the nation. He emphasised the League's steadfast commitment to forging close ties with Algeria in all endeavours that would fulfil the aspirations of the Algerian people, reinforce the trajectory of collective Arab efforts, and establish mechanisms to serve the common Arab causes.
