Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire by the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces during the days of Eid Al-Fitr.
Gamal Roshdy, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, has stated that the ceasefire agreement will provide an opportunity to restore calm and allow civilians to obtain basic needs, open humanitarian corridors to deal with critical humanitarian cases, and enable hospitals to operate. The announcement of the ceasefire underscores the importance of prioritising the well-being of the Sudanese people and the need for regional cooperation to address regional crises and conflicts.The spokesman emphasized that the League stresses the need to build on the ceasefire and take further steps towards peace to spare the blood of the Sudanese people.
