The 29th Symposium of Heads of Training Authorities in the Arab Armed Forces opened on 23 November at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. The symposium was chaired by Brigadier General Karim Taqa, head of the Tunisian delegation, and attended by Minister Plenipotentiary Tariq Abdel Salam, Director of the Military Administration, a distinguished group of officers representing 15 Arab countries, and Counsellor Mohamed Lamine Dah, a member of the Military Administration. The symposium’s purpose was to discuss and approve the study prepared by representatives of the heads of training authorities at their preparatory meeting, held in July, under the theme "The Role of Self-Learning in Developing the Future Capabilities of the Armed Forces and Its Impact on Operations and Training."
Minister Plenipotentiary Tariq Abdel Salam delivered a speech welcoming the officers of the delegations. He conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and his wishes for the success of their meeting. He also commended their excellent choice of topic, noting its importance and the objectives that can be advanced through military cooperation and coordination in developing and enhancing military capabilities. He said that the symposium was expected to produce a valuable study for the Arab Armed Forces, and that the distinguished caliber of participants reflected the attention and active engagement of Arab Armed Forces leadership in strengthening the foundations of cooperation for joint Arab action through military coordination in the field of self-learning to enhance the capabilities of Armed Forces personnel.
Brigadier General Karim Taqa, head of the delegation of the Republic of Tunisia and chairman of the preparatory meeting for the 29th symposium, delivered an address in which he conveyed his appreciation to the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Arab Affairs and National Security Sector – Military Administration) and the participating delegations for their attendance, wishing the symposium success. He assumed the chairmanship from Major General Salah Rashid Al Saad, head of the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, who had chaired the previous symposium and delivered a speech welcoming the attendees and extending his best wishes to the new chair and the participating delegations.
