Under the patronage and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development and Chairman of the Gulf Arab Programme for Development (AGFUND), the sixth edition of the exhibition series "Talal... A History for Generations to Read" was inaugurated on 7 September at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
A delegation from the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States attended the inauguration of the exhibition, headed by His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Saleh Al-Ajiri, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Sector, representing His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.
The ceremony was also attended by Her Highness Princess Sara bint Saud Al Saud, Vice President of the Ahyaaha Foundation; His Excellency Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said, Governor of Alexandria; Her Excellency Dr. Jacqueline Azar, Governor of Beheira; His Excellency Ambassador Saleh bin Eid Al-Hussaini, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Arab Republic of Egypt; His Excellency Ambassador Amjad Al-Adailah, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States; His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Zaid, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; and, on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, his deputy, Dr. Hossam Othman. Also present were Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazala, former Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Social Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States, along with a number of former ministers and a large gathering of diplomatic representatives.
In his address on behalf of the General Secretariat, His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Saleh Al-Ajiri conveyed the greetings of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and his best wishes for the success of the exhibition and its organisers. He underscored the profound educational and historical significance of this event, which documents the legacy of the late Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his pioneering institutional and humanitarian contributions in the fields of childhood and development. He noted that the exhibition highlights an aspect of Prince Talal's developmental and intellectual heritage, saying that Prince Talal dedicated his life to advancing the well-being of the Arab people. He added that this legacy endures through the efforts of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal, who continues to champion development programmes and initiatives. Ambassador Al-Ajiri also highlighted the pivotal role of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development as a leading Arab institution in issues of childhood and development, praising its longstanding partnership with the League of Arab States. He further commended the recognition accorded to Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, describing it as a well-deserved tribute to her distinguished professional and diplomatic career.
As part of the event, Ambassador Abu Ghazaleh was honoured for her distinguished diplomatic service and professional achievements, as well as her outstanding contributions to strengthening Arab cooperation and presenting the positive image of Arab women leaders at regional and international levels. Attendees praised this well-deserved recognition as a reflection of her influential role in supporting development, children's rights, and women's issues in the Arab world.
The programme concluded with a tour of the exhibition, where participants explored its rich content documenting Prince Talal's humanitarian and developmental achievements. This was followed by the screening of a short documentary entitled "Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz: A History for Future Generations."
