  • Aboul Gheit expresses concern over armed clashes in Tripoli
    Date: 14/05/2025

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, has expressed profound concern over the recent armed clashes that have erupted in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, over the past two days. These violent incidents have instilled fear among civilians, endangered the lives of peaceful residents, and severely disrupted the normal course of daily life.

Gamal Roshdi, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, conveyed a strong appeal to all Libyan parties to exercise restraint, de-escalate tensions, uphold their national responsibilities, and engage in constructive dialogue. He said that the recurrence of such regrettable events underscores, yet again, the critical and pressing need to advance a comprehensive national consensus that fulfills the legitimate aspirations of the Libyan people for peace, security, and stability.

Roshdi further relayed the Secretary-General’s reaffirmation of the League’s commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities toward Libya and supporting all endeavours aimed at resolving the crisis through a peaceful, inclusive, and purely Libyan-led process.
