The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, denounced the heinous terrorist attack perpetrated by the Al-Shabaab group on 19 March targeting the convoy of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in the capital, Mogadishu.
Gamal Roshdy, the Secretary-General’s spokesman, stated that Mr. Aboul Gheit expressed his strongest denunciation of this cowardly act, reaffirming the unwavering support and full solidarity of the League of Arab States with the Federal Republic of Somalia in its battle against terrorism and extremism in all its forms. He further affirmed the urgent need for concerted international efforts to combat terrorism comprehensively, including dismantling its networks and severing its sources of funding.
