Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received on 26 February Mr. Ammar Al-Hakim, head of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.
Gamal Roshdy, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that the meeting featured an in-depth exchange of views on developments in Iraq and the broader regional landscape. Mr. Al-Hakim provided an overview of the latest political and security dynamics in Iraq, while Mr. Aboul Gheit reaffirmed the critical importance of safeguarding stability in the country as a fundamental prerequisite for advancing development efforts that align with the aspirations of the Iraqi people.
On the Palestinian cause, the Secretary-General underscored the imperative of supporting Palestinian resilience in Gaza and categorically rejecting any displacement initiatives in any form. He further noted the necessity of consolidating a unified Arab stance on this matter, which is expected to be articulated in the emergency Arab summit scheduled for 4 March.
The official spokesman added that the discussions also encompassed the situations in Syria and Lebanon.
