The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, led by His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Economic Affairs Sector, participated in the First Session of the Conference of Businessmen and Investors from Arab Countries, Central Asian Countries, and Azerbaijan, held on 26-27 February in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The conference was convened as part of the implementation of the Doha Declaration, issued during the Third Session of the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with Central Asian Countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan, held in Doha on 29-30 April 2024. It aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen economic and investment ties between Arab states, Central Asian nations, and Azerbaijan. The gathering serves as a strategic platform for fostering meaningful collaboration between business leaders and private sector institutions from both regions, facilitating economic partnerships, expanding trade exchanges, and unlocking new investment opportunities to drive mutual prosperity and growth.
Coinciding with the UAE's hosting of the Fourth Session of the Investopia International Forum, the conference witnessed high-level participation from ministers, senior officials, and representatives of specialised Arab organisations, as well as key figures from the private sector and leading business enterprises from across the Arab world, Central Asia, and Azerbaijan.
The conference programme featured a series of specialised sessions aimed at exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation in diverse sectors, including the emerging economy, artificial intelligence, waste management, food security, climate change impact mitigation, and investments geared towards sustainable development.
The conference culminated in the adoption of the Abu Dhabi Declaration, endorsed by the attending ministers during a high-level roundtable session held on the sidelines of the event.
