  • Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries holds training course on diplomacy in Moroni

    ​Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Republic of the Comoros, the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries inaugurated a specialised training course on 24 February for 35 Comorian diplomats. The course, held in Moroni, is running from 24 to 28 February.  

    The opening ceremony was presided over by Minister Plenipotentiary Sherine Adel Emam, representing Ambassador Mohannad Saleh Lajouzi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Director-General of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries. The event witnessed the presence of His Excellency Dr. Abu Bakr Sidali, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Electricity, Water, and Fuels; His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Hussein Gamal El-Leil, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Arab Affairs and Liaison with the Arab World; Professor Abdullah Yahya, Advisor to the President for Islamic Affairs; and Mr. Ali Mohamed Ali, Director-General of Higher Education.  

    In her address, the Fund's representative extended a warm welcome to all attendees and expressed gratitude to His Excellency the Comorian Minister of Foreign Affairs for his patronage, as well as to Comorian officials for their efforts in facilitating the success of the course. She conveyed the personal interest of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, in supporting the United Republic of the Comoros, particularly in enhancing the capabilities of its diplomats and equipping them with essential skills in various fields of diplomatic practice.  

    She said that the training course seeks to empower Comorian diplomats with the necessary expertise to effectively contribute to strengthening both bilateral and multilateral relations in the region. Furthermore, she expressed her hope that the programme would not only refine the diplomatic performance of the participants but also open new avenues for engagement and cooperation with their counterparts across the Arab world.

    In his address, His Excellency the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the keen interest of His Excellency the Comorian Minister of Foreign Affairs in this initiative and extended his profound gratitude and appreciation to the League of Arab States and His Excellency the Secretary-General for their commitment to supporting the Union of the Comoros. He underscored the significance of this training session as a pivotal step towards strengthening relations between his country and the Arab world. Moreover, he stressed the invaluable knowledge and expertise that Comorian diplomats would acquire through this programme, expressing his hope for the continued provision of such essential support.
