Under the directives of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Alaa Al-Tamimi, Director of the Department of Research and Strategic Studies at the League of Arab States, participated in the symposium titled "The Future of the Arab Regional System." The event, organised by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, was held on 25-26 December at the headquarters of the Centre for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage in Cairo. It featured the participation of Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Ambassador Mohamed Wagih Hegazy, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs; alongside a distinguished group of intellectuals, cultural figures, experts, and specialists.
In his remarks, Dr. Al-Tamimi conveyed the greetings of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States to Dr. Ahmed Zayed and expressed gratitude for the invitation to take part in this significant symposium. He highlighted the strong and ongoing collaboration between the League of Arab States and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, with the latest milestone being the signing of a memorandum of cooperation during the Arab Week for Sustainable Development, covering various fields of mutual interest.
Dr. Al-Tamimi underscored the League's full support for the objectives of the symposium, commending its role in fostering dialogue, trust, and collaboration to address crises and challenges facing the Arab region. He stressed the importance of advancing solutions rooted in scientific foundations and renewed appreciation for the Bibliotheca Alexandrina's effective contribution to these efforts through its forward-looking initiatives.
