The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States commemorates the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, observed annually on 29 November, through an event organised on 1 December 2024. The event brings together permanent delegates to the League of Arab States, ambassadors and representatives of foreign nations, and Arab and international organisations. The commemoration reaffirms unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle to reclaim their legitimate rights—freedom, independence, an end to the occupation, and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
This year’s event takes place amidst a tragic backdrop, as the Palestinian people endure an ongoing genocide and an Israeli war of aggression that has persisted for over a year. The occupation’s systematic plans to obliterate every facet of Palestinian life, particularly in the Gaza Strip, demand an urgent response from the international community. This requires concerted efforts to pressure Israel, as the occupying power, to halt its aggression and pave the way for a political solution that ends the occupation, secures justice, and establishes a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace through the realisation of an independent Palestinian state.
The event will also feature the honouring of several Palestinian and international figures and institutions in recognition of their steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people, their support for the just Palestinian cause, and their courage in confronting the occupation’s violations and crimes.
