Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received Her Excellency Ms. Celinda Sosa Lunda, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Plurinational State of Bolivia on 24 November at the headquarters of the General Secretariat. The meeting delved into several issues of mutual interest.
The official spokesman for the Secretary-General, Counsellor Gamal Roshdy, stated that Mr. Aboul Gheit commended Bolivia's principled and honourable stance on the Palestinian cause. He praised the Bolivian government's commitment to upholding values of justice and human rights in the face of the ongoing brutal aggression against the Palestinian people by the occupying power.
The spokesman highlighted that Her Excellency Ms. Lunda reaffirmed Bolivia's steadfast rejection of the genocide being perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people. She referenced Bolivia's decision to sever diplomatic ties with Israel following its egregious violations of human rights in Palestine. Furthermore, she underscored Bolivia's efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip, despite considerable obstacles, emphasising her country's dedication to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Ms. Lunda also reiterated Bolivia's commitment to its principled stance on the Palestinian cause, even amidst political pressures and economic challenges. The spokesman noted that she stressed Bolivia’s refusal to compromise its values, despite external efforts to sway its position.
In turn, Mr. Aboul Gheit expressed the League's full support for Bolivia, lauding its courageous and principled positions in the face of domestic, regional, and international challenges.
