  • Aboul Gheit condemns Israeli attacks on Lebanon, warns against escalation
    Date: 17/09/2024

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, vehemently condemned the treacherous Israeli attacks on communication infrastructure in Lebanon, which claimed several lives, including that of a child, and resulted in thousands of injuries.

Gamal Roshdy, the spokesman for the Secretary-General, relayed Mr. Aboul Gheit’s grave warning regarding the repercussions of this dangerous escalation against Lebanon and its people. He emphasised that these attacks are compounded by irresponsible statements from Israeli leaders, who appear intent on broadening the scope of the war on the southern Lebanon front, which could dangerously destabilise the entire region.

Mr. Aboul Gheit expressed his unwavering solidarity with Lebanon, its people, and its government in the face of this blatant assault on the country’s sovereignty and security.

The Secretary-General further stressed the urgent need for the United Nations Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities by addressing and countering Israel’s continued and reckless threats to security and peace in the region.
