  • Head of League Mission Monitoring Jordan’s Parliamentary Elections visits Jordanian National Centre for Human Rights

    In continuation of the series of meetings conducted by Ambassador Khalil Ibrahim Al-Thawadi, Assistant Secretary-General, head of the Arab Affairs and National Security Sector, and head of the League of Arab States Mission monitoring the Parliamentary Elections in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ambassador Al-Thawadi convened with Ms. Samar Al-Hajj Hassan, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the National Centre for Human Rights, at the centre’s headquarters. Ms. Hassan provided a comprehensive briefing to the mission’s leadership regarding the centre's endeavours since the electoral calendar was announced, along with its role in monitoring the elections and addressing complaints related to potential human rights violations throughout the electoral process.
    Ambassador Al-Thawadi, in turn, lauded the significant efforts of the National Centre for Human Rights, particularly in fostering a culture of human rights, and ensuring transparency and integrity in the electoral process. He further praised the political and legislative progress achieved as a result of royal directives, underscoring the pivotal role of political parties, women, and youth in this crucial electoral exercise.
    During the meeting, the head of the mission also visited the centre’s operations room, where he reviewed the methodology employed in electronic monitoring, including the handling of voter complaints that are promptly relayed to the electoral commission for resolution. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasised the importance of fostering cooperation among all stakeholders involved in the electoral process, with the shared aim of ensuring the success and integrity of the elections and their anticipated outcomes.
