His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Media and Communication Sector, held a meeting with Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the League of Arab States, on Tuesday, 9 January 2024, at the League headquarters in Cairo.
The meeting was held to assess the field, political, rights, and humanitarian developments in the occupied Palestinian territories. The discussions focused on the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the recurring incursions into cities and towns in the occupied West Bank.
During the meeting, Ambassador Khattabi reiterated the League of Arab States’ unwavering support for the legitimate Palestinian cause across various dimensions. This commitment extends particularly to the Arab media movement, which plays a crucial role in advocating for the Palestinian people during this critical stage of their struggle. The objective is to establish an independent, sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital in alignment with the Palestinian national project.
Additionally, the Assistant Secretary-General updated the Palestinian Ambassador on the outcomes of the 100th session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media and the 18th session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers. These sessions, held recently in the State of Libya, focused on activating the Arab media action plan. This plan serves as a fundamental mechanism for supporting the Palestinian cause across various domains and within international media circles.
