As part of the ongoing initiatives led by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to support the revival of libraries affected by conflicts and wars in Arab countries, and recognising the pivotal role that libraries play in advancing and preserving the Arabic language, the Library of the General Secretariat and the Arab Publishers Union have jointly presented a substantial collection of books and scientific references in Arabic to the National Library of Somalia. This generous donation comprises over 1,000 titles spanning various fields of joint Arab action and diverse human sciences. In commemoration of this contribution, a special event was organised on Wednesday, 21 June 2023, at the General Secretariat Library headquarters. The occasion provided an opportunity to showcase the donated collections to the National Library of Somalia. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Mohamed Rashad, President of the Arab Publishers Union, and Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Omar, Cultural Advisor to the Permanent Delegation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, along with his accompanying delegation.
