The Information and Documentation Department held a workshop on the "Management of Knowledge Dissemination and Information Documentation: Foresight and Decision-Making Support" in response to the Memorandum of Understanding inked between the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and the Oman and Gulf Centre for Strategic Studies. The agreement pertains to documentation, knowledge dissemination, training, and qualification, as part of the endeavour towards developing an advanced training programme that focuses on knowledge dissemination management and information documentation.
The workshop catered to departmental heads and key officials in various sectors of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. Its objective was to heighten information awareness among the attendees by introducing them to the scientific and practical aspects of the information and data collection, organisation, analysis, and extraction processes, as well as the formulation of knowledge templates.
The workshop also addressed the critical issues of organisation, control, and security in the digital age, which contributes to supporting the decision-making process at various administrative levels in the sectors of joint Arab action.
The workshop encompassed five key axes, namely information sources, information security, information confidentiality, knowledge management, and smart power, and their respective roles in supporting decision-making.
The workshop delved into the significance of data and information, as well as the importance of knowledge management, including the technical and other processes that enable organisations and entities to generate, organise, select, use, disseminate, and transform information into organisational knowledge that bolsters the strategic decision-making process across all domains of human knowledge.
Furthermore, the workshop underscored the criticality of information security in the digital age and the requisite employment of human and technological capabilities to preserve and maintain information.
