Since the signing of the Declaration of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum which took place at the General Secretariat headquarters in 2004, both the Arab and Chinese sides made significant achievements, rendering this forum a successful model to be emulated when creating other forums for cooperation between the League of Arab States and major international parties.
Thus, both sides were able to establish more than ten mechanisms for cooperation in various political, economic, cultural, media and developmental fields. In this context, numerous meetings and events were held, at ministerial level and at the level of senior officials, experts and specialists in various sectors. Memoranda were also signed to activate cooperation in a number of areas stipulated by the executive programs of the Forum. Some areas of cooperation, however, still require additional efforts and the development of appropriate mechanisms for their activation.
During his visit to the General Secretariat headquarters in January 2004, the Chinese President put forward the idea of establishing an Arab-Chinese Forum for collaboration in four main areas: political, economic, cultural, and international affairs.
The Declaration of the Forum was signed on 14 September 2004 at the General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo.
