• Al - Shazly Al - Qalibi 1979 - 1990

    Born on 6 September 1925 in Tunis.

    He received his secondary education at the Sadiq School before travelling to Paris to pursue his studies in literature and philosophy at the Sorbonne.

    He received his degree in the Arabic language and Arabic literature in 1947.

    He won the Tabriz debate in 1950.

    He started teaching at secondary institutes and was assigned to teach at the Institute of Graduate Studies.

    In 1957, he completed his university teaching.

    In May 1958, he was appointed Director-General of the National Radio and Television.

    In 1961 he was assigned the task of establishing the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and remained a supervisor until 197. He assumed the responsibility of the media twice.

    The Ministry of Culture re-assigned him in 1971 (until 1973) and in 1976 (until 1978). From 1974 to 1976, he served as Director of the Office of the President of the Republic. 

    He became Minister of Information from September 1978 to June 1979, when he was elected Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.

    He was elected member of the Central Committee of the Party in Tunis in 1964 and a member of the Political Bureau of the Free Constitutional Party in Tunisia between July 1968 and September 1979.

    He served as the mayor of Carthage since 1963, and headed the party's local division since 1964.

    He participated in the editing of the majority national newspapers and magazines, published many political articles and researches and delivered many literary lectures.

    Member of the Arabic Language Academy in Cairo since February 1970.

    He published various works in literature, culture and politics (Arabs vs. Palestine) (issues of religion and age).

    He received the Medal of the Grand Republic and Independence and a large number of foreign decorations.

    Married and father of three children.
