The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States observed the recurrence of legal abuses related to the use of the name and logo of the League of Arab States by unaffiliated parties. The League has repeatedly warned about those offences which have caused harm to the image of the League of Arab States and the individuals who deal with them without knowing the truth and the extent of their credibility. Thus far, there are about 20 violating parties and institutions, which requires legal action.
The General Secretariat will resort to the judiciary to take the necessary legal measures against the violating parties in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the country hosting the headquarters of the League of Arab States. The move is meant to protect the name, flag, emblem, and seals of the League of Arab States and put an end to fraud attempts by some parties that do not belong to the General Secretariat and claim to issue certificates and awards in cooperation with or on behalf of the League.
In this regard, the General Secretariat warns against using the name and logo of the League of Arab States in correspondence, websites, or promotions, or using the flag of the League of Arab States without obtaining a written permission from the General Secretariat.
The General Secretariat also warns against issuing academic or honorary certificates or distributing awards bearing the name or logo of the League of Arab States, or claiming that they are issued by/or in cooperation with the General Secretariat without an official documented cooperation protocol between the two sides.
The General Secretariat also warns against dealing with any entities that claim to collect donations on its behalf for any purpose. The General Secretariat stresses that it does not collect donations and does not delegate other entities in this matter.
The General Secretariat reiterates that the entities that cooperate with the League of Arab States are only those stated in its official website.
In addition, the General Secretariat points out that it is not authorised to establish or accredit civil society organisations, federations, and institutions.
The General Secretariat calls upon citizens not to deal with entities claiming to be affiliated with the League of Arab States or that issue awards and certificates in its name. It also calls on citizens to report entities that claim affiliation with the General Secretariat in order to take the necessary legal measures against them on info.sect@las.Int
