The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States’ statement on the 106th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration

​Today marks the 106th anniversary of the ill-fated Balfour Declaration, issued by British Foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour on 2 November 1917, meant to establish a national homeland for the Jews in Palestine. However, on this occasion, the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and throughout the occupied Palestinian territory find themselves caught in a fierce and escalating destructive war.

​The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States submitted on 25 October its written response to the Registry of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, adhering to the established timelines for the ongoing case examining Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and the legal implications associated with its continued actions. This submission is a pivotal step towards the Court's forthcoming opinion.

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States’ statement on the 54th anniversary of the arson attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque

​The 54th anniversary of the arson attack on the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, an incident orchestrated by the Jewish extremist Michael Rohan, falls on 21 August 2023.

On 21 August 1969, Rohan set fire to the mosque, resulting in the burning of the eastern wing of the Al-Qibli Mosque, the pulpit of Sultan Saladin, and various other parts of the Blessed Mosque.
