The General Secretariat (Economic Affairs Sector) took part in the fifth session of the China-Arab States Forum on Reform and Development, held in Shanghai, People's Republic of China on 18 April 2025. Convened under the theme "Implementing the Global Development Initiative and Advancing China-Arab Cooperation Towards New Horizons," the forum was hosted by the China-Arab States Centre for Reform and Development Studies, under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.
The forum's deliberations focused on avenues for strengthening Arab-Chinese cooperation across diverse economic and technological domains, alongside discussions on mechanisms for advancing the Global Development Initiative. Participants also put forward proposals for expanding the scope of economic collaboration within the broader framework of Arab-Chinese partnership.
The China-Arab States Forum on Reform and Development serves as a vital platform for the exchange of expertise and best practices in reform and development between the Arab world and China. It forms an integral part of the implementation plan of the China-Arab Cooperation Programme.
It is also noteworthy that the General Secretariat is participating in the 24th study course for Arab officials, held on the sidelines of the forum and organised by the China-Arab States Centre for Reform and Development. The course aims to explore opportunities for enhanced Arab-Chinese cooperation, with particular emphasis on China's advancements in artificial intelligence and its applications across all sectors.
