Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met with Mr. Karim Khan, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey on 12 April.
Gamal Rushdy, the Secretary-General's official spokesperson, stated that the meeting focused on the grave crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip, as well as the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and its pivotal role in holding accountable those responsible among Israeli officials.
Roshdy added that the Secretary-General expressed his full support for the Prosecutor in light of the immense political pressures he is currently facing, commending his commitment to upholding the credibility of the international justice system—one that has long suffered from accusations of double standards and selective application.
Mr. Aboul Gheit said that Israel’s persistent attempts to challenge and sabotage international justice mechanisms—often with the backing of certain states—pose a grave threat to the rules-based international order and carry far-reaching consequences beyond the ongoing tragedy in Gaza and the crimes and massacres committed therein.
