Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Youssef Al-Sharif on 3 February at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.
Gamal Roshdy, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that the Sudanese Minister provided a comprehensive briefing on the latest developments in Sudan’s field situation, highlighting the progress achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces and emphasising the strong support of the Sudanese people for their national army.
The Sudanese Minister expressed his gratitude to the Secretary-General for the League’s unwavering support for Sudan during this critical period.
For his part, Mr. Aboul Gheit welcomed the Sudanese army’s success in regaining control over several cities in Al-Jazeera State. He reaffirmed the fundamental principles that guide the League’s stance on the Sudanese crisis, underscoring the imperative of preserving the country’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He further stressed the necessity of safeguarding state institutions, rejecting any form of foreign interference in Sudan’s internal affairs, and initiating an inclusive national dialogue based on the principles of unity and national sovereignty.
