His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Economic Affairs Sector, along with the General Secretariat delegation, met with His Excellency Lieutenant General Rashid Thani Al-Matrooshi, Director-General of Dubai Civil Defence, during the launch ceremony of the 1 Billion Readiness Initiative. The initiative, organised and inaugurated by the Dubai Civil Defence Directorate, took place at the Intersac Security and Protection Exhibition held in Dubai from 14 to 16 January.
The meeting focused on exploring ways to enhance the initiative's role and extend its implementation across the Arab region through the Arab Coordination Mechanism for Disaster Risk Reduction. Discussions included incorporating the initiative into the General Secretariat's priorities for the upcoming two years, reflecting its significance in fostering regional preparedness and resilience. His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Al-Maliki expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for spearheading this commendable initiative, underscoring its importance for the region.
In recognition of Lieutenant General Al-Matrooshi's efforts and contributions, His Excellency the Ambassador presented a shield on behalf of the General Secretariat, symbolising appreciation for the UAE's dedication to advancing security and disaster readiness in the Arab world.
