  • Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries organises training course for Mauritanian diplomats

    ​The Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, inaugurated on 6 January a training course for 30 Mauritanian diplomats. Held at the Mauritanian Diplomatic Academy in Nouakchott, the course encompasses topics such as negotiation, mediation, and protocol techniques. The opening ceremony, marking the commencement of this week-long session, was graced by the presence of Ambassador Mohamed El Habib Bal, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad; Ambassador Abdel Kader Mohamed Ahmedou, Director-General of the Mauritanian Diplomatic Academy; and several high-ranking officials from the Ministry.

    Participating via video conference, Ambassador Mohannad Saleh Lajouzi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Director-General of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries, delivered a keynote address. He conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania for hosting this significant diplomatic initiative. His Excellency also extended his best wishes to the participating diplomats, encouraging them to derive maximum benefit from the programme. He underscored the importance of this session, which is the second of its kind hosted at the Mauritanian Diplomatic Academy, affirming its role in bolstering Mauritanian expertise in the diplomatic sphere.

    In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Mohamed El Habib Bal expressed profound gratitude to the League of Arab States and the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries for organising this pivotal initiative. He urged participants to actively engage with the lectures to refine their skills in negotiation, mediation, and protocol, enabling them to fulfil their diplomatic responsibilities with the utmost professionalism. Similarly, Ambassador Abdel Kader Mohamed Ahmedou, Director-General of the Mauritanian Diplomatic Academy, extended his appreciation to the Arab Fund, highlighting the fruitful collaboration between the Academy and this Arab institution dedicated to providing technical assistance to African nations. He asserted the critical value of the lectures, urging participants to seize this opportunity to enhance their knowledge and acquire new competencies.
