Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, is scheduled to depart for Beirut on the morning of 21 October for a one-day visit to engage in talks with Lebanese leaders, stated Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the League.
Ambassador Zaki added that the Secretary-General’s visit aims to consult with Lebanese leadership on strategies to address the ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon, which necessitates a baseline level of Lebanese consensus. The discussions will also focus on encouraging progress towards resolving the presidential vacancy issue, a pressing priority that is essential for completing the country's constitutional leadership and enabling Lebanon to confront the significant challenges it currently faces.
Additionally, Ambassador Zaki noted that Mr. Aboul Gheit seeks to gather insights into Lebanon’s position regarding the humanitarian and relief efforts for those displaced by the aggression, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming Paris meeting on 24 October, to which the League of Arab States has been invited to participate.
