Gamal
Roshdy, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said that Mr. Aboul
Gheit declared that the ruthless assaults on hospitals, where the sick
and wounded seek refuge, must cease immediately. He held international
entities accountable for permitting Israel to persist in an extralegal
war, employing methods universally deemed unacceptable by any standard
of human morality.
In
a separate development, Roshdy reported that the Secretary-General of
the League hosted General Patrick Gochat, head of the United Nations
Truce Supervision Mission, at the General Secretariat headquarters. The
mission, established by a UN resolution in 1948, monitors armistice
agreements between Israel and four Arab countries. Mr. Aboul Gheit
received an evaluation from Gochat on the security situation and
field-related issues across various fronts. Mr. Aboul Gheit, in
response, underscored that the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the absence
of an immediate ceasefire elevate the risk of security deterioration,
potentially expanding the conflict to other fronts. He urged those
involved in mitigating the conflict to promptly work towards achieving a
 sustainable ceasefire.
